A Welcome from the Preschool Director!

    Dear Infant/Toddler Families,

It is a pleasure to have these precious little ones at Tempe Christian School.  We are here to love and nurture them with the love of Jesus.  We want to provide a safe, secure and loving environment for the children.

Our staff is well trained in the care of the children.  We spend time individually with each child daily.  They are loved while being fed, playing and even while sleeping.  Our ratios are well below the state license requirement.

TCS wants to be a helper in the growth and development of each child.  Our center has a volunteer that comes each day to be the extra set of hands to help our ladies rock the babies.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come unto me” and at Tempe Christian School we want to be Jesus to the families and the children.

Looking forward to being a part of your child’s life.

Debbie Hallman

Preschool Director

Tuition is due in full regardless of illness or vacation.  You are allowed one week vacation during the year.  Check under the Holiday and School Closures section for days TCS is closed.  The office must be informed when your child will not be at TCS.

If your child is absent more than five (5) consecutive days due to a family emergency or serious illness (hospitalization), a note from a doctor is required and then a credit may be issued by the director.

A staff member may need to separate a child from other children for unacceptable age-appropriate behavior.  The separation period shall be for no longer than 3 minutes after the child has regained control or composure.

Infants will be taken outside once or twice a day.  Toddlers will have outdoor time 2 - 3 times a day.  There will be no other children on the playground when Toddlers are present.  Infants will be taken for rides around the grounds in strollers.

Parents need to provide the formula and food that their child will need each day.  Once they are on table food you may continue to bring their food or you may purchase lunch through our cafeteria for $1.00 per day.  Menus are available in the school office.

Children are referred to the office for minor injuries and common aches and pains.

A child who is ill simply cannot function to the best of his/her ability.  TCS would like to partner with parents and guardians to assure that every child while at school functions at or near 100%.

Parents will understand that:

·         Tempe Christian School administers prescription medications as instructed by physician.  Medication authorization forms are located in the office.  Medication, by law, may not be administered without a completed permission slip.

·         The child must have been on the medication for at least 24 hours.

·         Children with a fever of 100 degrees or higher must be sent home.

·         A child with vomiting or diarrhea should not come to school.

·         A child with "pink eye" (conjunctivitis) cannot return to school until the condition has cleared up or the child has been on medication for 24 hours.

·         A child with a rash of unknown origin should not attend school until the rash is gone or a note from a health care provider stating that the child is not contagious and may return to school.

A child SHOULD NOT attend school if any of the following symptoms are present in the past 24 hours:

·         Fever

·         Diarrhea

·         Rash of unknown origin

·         Vomiting

·         Communicable disease

All symptoms must be clear for 24 hours before the child can return to school.  Your child is not well if "drugs" are relieving the symptoms.

We cannot emphasize how important it is for all parents and staff to cooperate with this policy.  It is for the welfare of our children and the health of Tempe Christian School.

Medications must be in the original container and have the name of the child, the name and prescription number, instructions for administering the medication (including dosage, date and time the medication is to be given), and the reason the medication is prescribed.  A "Medication Authorization" request form must be completed.  The child must have been on the medication for at least 24 hours.  The medicine is to be given to the school secretary and will be dispensed as instructed by the physician.

We will administer nonprescription medication provided by the parent, such as Tylenol, Advil, cold or cough medicine, only from a container prepackaged and labeled for use by the manufacturer and labeled with the child's name.  Written instructions from the child's physician must accompany all nonprescription medications.

In case of emergency, all attempts to reach parents will be exhausted.  If parents cannot be reached, 911 will be called.  In case of extreme emergency, 911 will be called first.  Parents will then be contacted using phone numbers on record.

Our school has a well organized, active Parent Teacher Fellowship.  This excellent group of parents and staff sponsor major fund raising activities during the school year.  The proceeds are used solely for the benefit of the school and its programs.

Parents also participate in student programs and open forums.  Current information from the Tempe Christian School Board and from the administration is also a regular part of the PTF meetings.  Check the school calendar for dates and times of meetings.

Parents need to provide the following items for their children:

·         2 large boxes of Kleenex

·         2 change of clothes (labeled in a ziploc bag) to be left in the child's cubby

·         2 large boxes of baby wipes

·         diapers

·         bottles

Please label all items your child uses with your child's name or initials.

ALL children must be signed in and out by an authorized person.  The sign in sheets are posted in the classroom.  Initials alone are not sufficient.  These rules apply to all children on a daily basis.

All flyers, hand-outs, open letters and communiqués intended for distribution on any portion of Tempe Nazarene Church or Tempe Christian School property, including, but not limited to parking lot, breeze way and student cubbies, must be approved by church and/or school administration, prior to distribution.

Concerns regarding major policy issues should immediately be brought to the attention of school administration.  A letter detailing issues should also be submitted at that time for distribution to and consideration by the School Board.

The school office opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m.  Parents are welcome at any time.  However, it is recommended that you make an appointment with the office prior to your arrival.

We ask that you please keep your copies of statements for your Income Tax needs.  Additional requests for printed reports from the bookkeeping office are to be in writing.  Tempe Christian School's tax number is 86-0228493.
